Your Next Move Should Be Strategic, Not Reactive
Coaching for experienced tech professionals, L5+ through VP. A structured program — clarity, positioning, networking, interviews, offers — instead of months spent guessing what went wrong.
Imagine…
A clear answer to "what do I actually want next" — backed by a positioning story that makes your experience speak for itself.
A search system with warm paths into target companies, instead of cold applications disappearing into portals.
A clear way to evaluate an offer when it comes — compensation, scope, growth, culture — and the footing to negotiate rather than just accept.
Without sending applications into portals and reading the silence as a verdict on you.
Without a resume that reads like a job description instead of a track record.
Without saying yes to the first thing out of relief, before asking whether it is actually the right move.
A hiring manager’s eye on the whole move
I spent 17+ years hiring in tech — as a hiring manager, and as a Bar Raiser at Amazon and Snap. I know what makes a candidate easy to hire. I have also watched too many strong candidates lose out to someone who simply prepared better. Preparation is not playing the game — it is how you get your value across in an hour, to people who have never met you. That is the lens we put on your search: how you position yourself, what your resume and LinkedIn actually signal, which doors you knock on and how.
We build your search as a system:
- Positioning and personal brand
- Targeted networking that creates warm paths
- Interview readiness
- Offer evaluation and negotiation
You end with a role that fits the career you are building — not just the next job that showed up.
From Clients Who Did This Work
Landed a Sr. Director of Product role at a household-name company
" Before working with Larry, I was navigating several high-stakes career decisions in a senior product role within a FAANG company. I had strong experience, but I was looking for sharper clarity on how to position myself for the next step and operate more intentionally at an executive level. Larry brings a rare combination of strategic insight and practical guidance. He helped me distill a compelling leadership narrative, elevate my executive presence, and focus on the roles and environments where I could drive the greatest impact. As a result, I transitioned into a Sr. Director of Product role at a leading, household-name company. More importantly, I now approach my career with a much higher degree of clarity, confidence, and intentionality. Larry's coaching was a meaningful catalyst in that transformation. "

Transitioned to Tech Lead at a fast-growing unicorn
" Before working with Larry, I was at a career crossroads as a Machine Learning Engineering Manager at a major social tech company. I was deeply uncertain about whether to make a significant job switch, and I felt clouded on how to best navigate my path forward to the next stage of my career. Larry's coaching provided the exact solution I needed. He helped me completely clear my thoughts, objectively evaluate my options, and construct a solid, actionable career growth plan tailored to my specific aspirations. The results have been transformative. With his guidance, I successfully transitioned to an Applied ML Tech Lead role at a fast-growing e-commerce unicorn. This change was crucial for me because it directly supports my long-term goal of reaching the Principal+ level. I now have the clarity and the roadmap to get there, and I highly recommend Larry to anyone looking to level up their career. "

Built an interviewing system — and landed the role
" When I first worked with Larry, all I was looking for was interview prep. I'm an experienced engineering manager but job hunting had changed significantly since I'd last looked for new opportunities. I was out of practice and wanted help leveling up my interview skills. Not only did Larry's support give me the practice and confidence I needed, he also helped me build an interviewing system. Previously I had an unstructured, passive approach. Larry's depth of experience helped me create an active system that worked with my schedule and at my pace. Thanks to Larry's coaching, I recently accepted the role of Lead Software Engineering Manager. Thank you Larry! "

A Word on Timing
A search with no system doesn't fail loudly. It drifts — a few applications a week, a few months gone, and the story you tell about yourself gets a little more tired each time. The cost usually isn't a rejection. It's the six months, and the role you settled for at the end of them.
Questions I Get
What levels and roles do you coach?
Experienced individual contributors (L5/senior and up, including Staff and Principal), engineering managers, directors, and VPs. Mostly engineering and adjacent tech roles — if you are a PM or TPM, the positioning and search work applies just as well; ask me in the form.
I don’t know exactly what I want next. Can we still start?
Yes. Clarity on the destination comes first. If you are genuinely torn between directions (stay vs. leave, IC vs. management), Tackle a Critical Decision may be the better entry point so we can get the decision settled first and roll into the search work after.
I have interviews coming up. Do you cover interview prep too?
Yes. Positioning and outreach get you the conversations, but interview prep is what turns them into offers. I have a rigorous framework for interview preparation. If interviews are the urgent issue for you right now, Ace Your Interviews goes deeper on that side — but either page reaches me.
I am employed and not in a rush. Is it too early?
The best searches start before there is a deadline: positioning compounds, networks warm up slowly, and you get to be selective. Looking while you are employed works in your favor: the market reads a working candidate as in demand, and you negotiate from firmer ground when you do not need the offer.
How is this different from a resume writer or a recruiter?
A resume writer produces a document. A recruiter is paid by the company to fill one specific req. Neither is working on what you should be going after, or on whether the way you talk about your work actually lands with the person deciding. That's where coaching comes in. And as a bonus, your resume gets better because it finally has a clear story underneath it.
How long will we work together?
This depends on where you start and what you actually need. Be assured, I will maximize our time together and tell you honestly if I think you need less than you expect.
What does it cost?
I have two packages, and which one fits depends on your timeline and how much ground we need to cover. The work we do keeps paying off long after the offer lands. Knowing how to position yourself and tell your story is a skill you'll carry with you the next time you move, and in the room once you're there. My coaching requires a significant investment of time and money, but it's small in comparison to what the right role is worth to you. I'll send exact pricing before you commit to anything.
What happens after I reach out?
I read every note myself and reply by email within 2 business days. Short email conversation to confirm fit, then details. If I'm not the right coach for your situation, I'll say so directly — and where I can, point you toward someone in my network who fits better.
Ready When You Are
Send me a note and I'll personally reply within 2 business days — or book a free discovery call if you'd rather talk it through first.
