Walk Into Your Interviews Knowing How These Rooms Really Work

Behavioral and leadership interview coaching for experienced engineers, managers, and executives — from a coach who spent 17 years inside the process, including as a Bar Raiser at Amazon and Snap.

Imagine…

Walking into the loop knowing what each interviewer is actually listening for, and why.

Telling stories that land as senior: structured, specific, and calibrated to the level you are targeting.

Getting the offer call for a role that pays what your experience is worth.

Without memorizing frameworks that make you sound like every other rehearsed candidate.

Without grinding through hundreds of YouTube videos of conflicting, uncalibrated advice.

Without guessing what "raise the bar" actually means to the people deciding your offer.

The view from the other side of the table

Most interview prep is taught from the candidate's side of the table. I spent 17 years on the other side — somewhere north of a thousand leadership interviews. That vantage point is what I draw on: not a formula, but a real sense of what moves a panel from “fine” to “we want this person.”

So we work on your actual stories, not scripts. You'll build a story bank that covers what loops really evaluate, practice in realistic mocks, and get the honest feedback a panel would give you if panels gave feedback — while there's still time to use it.

Interviews are rarely the whole job, either. Those I work with benefit from my help across the whole search — deciding what they actually want next, finding the roles worth going after, positioning, their resume and LinkedIn, warm paths into target companies instead of applications disappearing into portals, and the offer conversation. We put the work where it is actually costing you, which is not always the interview itself.

From Clients Who Did This Work

Built an interviewing system — and landed the role

" When I first worked with Larry, all I was looking for was interview prep. I'm an experienced engineering manager but job hunting had changed significantly since I'd last looked for new opportunities. I was out of practice and wanted help leveling up my interview skills. Not only did Larry's support give me the practice and confidence I needed, he also helped me build an interviewing system. Previously I had an unstructured, passive approach. Larry's depth of experience helped me create an active system that worked with my schedule and at my pace. Thanks to Larry's coaching, I recently accepted the role of Lead Software Engineering Manager. Thank you Larry! "

Landed an Associate Director role in a tough market

" I was laid off and had an Amazon interview in the pipeline. Larry spent a lot of time coaching me on how to tackle the interview process, something I had not done in more than 6 years. He worked closely with me not only on the mechanics of job searching and interviewing but also on my mindset. He coached me to remove my self-limiting beliefs and opened my eyes to new possibilities that were within reach but I couldn't see. I initially discounted Director and Associate Director roles because I thought they wouldn't consider my resume — he saw that and helped me change my thinking. Even after we stopped meeting, I emailed Larry weekly updates and he always responded attentively. In one instance he promptly hopped on a call to correct course when I drifted off track. With Larry's coaching, I landed an Associate Director of Engineering role in this tough market. Can't thank him enough! "

Landed multiple offers, including Meta

" Larry's consistent guidance and support were instrumental in my success — I landed multiple job offers from top companies, including Meta. His expertise in building compelling stories, and making sure they carried the information interviewers were actually looking for, was exceptional. He took the time to understand my experiences and strengths, then helped me present them in a way that resonated with interviewers. His insights and constructive feedback boosted my confidence and made me interview ready. I couldn't have achieved this without his help. "

A Word on Timing

Interviews tend to arrive faster than people expect — a recruiter reaches out, a role opens up internally. The ones who do well are usually the ones who got ready before the calendar filled in. Cram it into two weeks and the panel ends up judging your prep instead of your experience.

Questions I Get

What levels and roles do you coach?

Experienced individual contributors (L5/senior and up, including Staff and Principal), engineering managers, directors, and VPs. Mostly engineering and adjacent tech roles — if you are a PM or TPM, my behavioral and leadership coverage still applies; ask me in the form.

My interview loop is in one week. Is that enough time?

Sometimes, yes. If your stories already exist and just need sharpening — you know your best examples, you've told them before, they're landing flat — a focused week can move a lot. What a week can't do is build a story bank from nothing; if we're starting from a blank page, a month or two of runway is the sweet spot. Either way, reach out. Tell me your timeline and I'll give you a straight answer about what's realistic, including if I think it's too tight to be worth your money.

I need help with more than interviews — the search itself, my positioning, my resume. Do you do that too?

Yes, and most people need both. I coach the whole search: getting clear on what you actually want next, positioning, resume and LinkedIn, networking that creates warm paths instead of cold applications, interview prep, and evaluating and negotiating the offer at the end. If the search itself is the bigger piece for you, Land the Right Next Role goes deeper on that side — but you do not have to choose. Reach out here, tell me where you actually need the help, and we will shape the work around it.

Do you cover system design or coding interviews?

Although behavioral, management and leadership interviews are the core of my coaching, I do system design interviews as well. If you need system design skills, coding education, or assistance with any technical domain outside of my expertise, I have a network of experts who can help — reach out anyway and I'll point you to the right person.

How is this different from watching interview-prep content?

Content gives you the average answer. Coaching calibrates your stories, pressure-tested against how actual panels judge, with feedback specific to the level you are targeting. It's workshopping your answers with someone who spent years deciding who got the offer.

What does it cost?

I have two interview prep packages, and which one fits depends on your timeline and how much we're building versus polishing. The work we do keeps paying off long after the offer lands. Learning to communicate well in an interview is learning to communicate well, full stop — the same skill whether you're an IC making the case for a promotion or an executive briefing a board. My coaching requires a significant investment of time and money, but it's small in comparison to landing a role you wouldn't otherwise have gotten, or the months you don't spend between roles. I'll send exact pricing before you commit to anything.

What happens after I reach out?

I read every note myself and reply by email within 2 business days. Short email conversation to confirm fit, then details. If I'm not the right coach for your situation, I'll say so directly — and where I can, point you toward someone in my network who fits better.
