Larry Jacobson · Executive & Career Coach for Tech Leaders
Make Your Experience Speak for Itself
I help experienced tech professionals get hired and promoted into $300K–$1.2M roles that reflect the leader they've become — from career strategy to interview prep to executive presence. And when you're at a crossroads, I help you find your footing and your next move.
Coached leaders thriving at:

When you want to land your next role
From figuring out your next move to knowing how the room works.
Behavioral and leadership interview prep with a former Amazon and Snap Bar Raiser who conducted 1,000+ interviews from the other side of the table.
Career strategy, positioning, and interview prep for experienced tech professionals — so the next move is the right one, not just the next one.
When you want to grow where you are
Get promoted and lead at the level you already know you can reach.
Promotion strategy from someone who advised 200+ promotion panels — visibility, sponsorship, and a case your leadership can act on.
Executive presence, influence, and team leadership for leaders stepping up in scope — or into a new role they intend to win.
When you're at a crossroads
Stay or leave, pivot or push on, jump into management, break out of burnout — get clarity and create the best version of your future.
Stay or leave, pivot or push on, jump into management — think through the decision that has been circling for months, and actually make it.
Burnout, a difficult manager, a fractured relationship, workplace politics — work through what is draining you and get your footing back.
I know how these rooms work.
When you're aiming for a bigger role, a lot of the process feels opaque — what the panel really weighs, why one strong candidate moves up while another stalls. I've spent 17 years inside that process: making hiring and promotion decisions as a leader, and earning the Bar Raiser role at Amazon and Snap, helping hold the bar high across the company. That vantage point is what I draw on to help you.
Not all of it is about getting hired, though. A lot of my work is with leaders who already have the role and are working out how to hold it — executive presence, influence without authority, a team that runs without them in every meeting. Some of it is quieter still: the stay-or-leave question you keep circling back to, the stretch where the work stops letting up and you are running on fumes, a manager who is wearing you down, politics you cannot read. That side draws on different experience — managing managers, sponsoring people into their first leadership roles, advising senior leaders through hard calls, and having sat in the middle of enough tense reorgs and sideways relationships to know what they take out of you.
New to coaching? At its simplest, it's having someone experienced fully in your corner — asking the right questions, offering honest perspective, helping you find your own way forward. I'm an ICF-certified Executive Coach and Career Coach (ACC and CEC), so I bring real frameworks and tools to the work, but the heart of it is support and momentum toward what matters to you.

Landed a Sr. Director of Product role at a household-name company
" Before working with Larry, I was navigating several high-stakes career decisions in a senior product role within a FAANG company. I had strong experience, but I was looking for sharper clarity on how to position myself for the next step and operate more intentionally at an executive level. Larry brings a rare combination of strategic insight and practical guidance. He helped me distill a compelling leadership narrative, elevate my executive presence, and focus on the roles and environments where I could drive the greatest impact. As a result, I transitioned into a Sr. Director of Product role at a leading, household-name company. More importantly, I now approach my career with a much higher degree of clarity, confidence, and intentionality. Larry's coaching was a meaningful catalyst in that transformation. "

Elevated executive presence and strategic clarity
" I've worked in high-pressure, fast-moving environments across multiple top-tier tech companies, where the challenge isn't just execution — it's navigating ambiguity, aligning with senior leadership, and knowing how to show up in the moments that matter. Larry has been someone I've consistently relied on through those transitions. What stands out is how practical and situational his guidance is — he gets straight to the core of the situation and helps you see what actually matters, whether it's managing up, reframing a message for an executive audience, or handling a complex leadership dynamic. A big shift for me was around executive presence — not in a superficial sense, but in how to communicate with clarity, read the room, and operate with the right level of intent and confidence. I'm able to handle ambiguity better, align stakeholders more effectively, and approach difficult situations with more clarity and control. I continue to reach out to Larry as a trusted advisor — his input consistently helps me get to a better outcome. "

Landed an Associate Director role in a tough market
" I was laid off and had an Amazon interview in the pipeline. Larry spent a lot of time coaching me on how to tackle the interview process, something I had not done in more than 6 years. He worked closely with me not only on the mechanics of job searching and interviewing but also on my mindset. He coached me to remove my self-limiting beliefs and opened my eyes to new possibilities that were within reach but I couldn't see. I initially discounted Director and Associate Director roles because I thought they wouldn't consider my resume — he saw that and helped me change my thinking. Even after we stopped meeting, I emailed Larry weekly updates and he always responded attentively. In one instance he promptly hopped on a call to correct course when I drifted off track. With Larry's coaching, I landed an Associate Director of Engineering role in this tough market. Can't thank him enough! "
