👉 DIY Executive Coaching: how are you showing up as a leader?

You’re thoughtful and intentional about communicating the right values, priorities, and strategies to your organization. But are you consistent and authentic in your day-to-day actions and interactions? Are you being the message?

Have you earned an abundance of trust, or are you at a trust deficit?

How do you know?

The opinions that people have about you as their leader are formed by observing you in many contexts, in all sorts of subtle and indirect ways.

👉 If you could have insight into the signals you’re sending, how powerful would that be?

💡 This is what I call DIY Executive Coaching 💡

I pose some questions and then pass the ball to you. If you’re willing to be introspective and have a learning mindset, I don’t see why you can’t be your own executive coach.

Get introspective

Find a quiet location and carve out some distraction-free time. Ask yourself:

  • ❓ Thinking about the values, strategies, priorities, and processes that are right for your organization — what is out of alignment?
  • ❓ As a leader, are you “being the message”?
  • ❓ How do things really get done in your area?
  • ❓ What behaviors are you tolerating? Or not tolerating?
  • ❓ What gets rewarded? What gets ignored?
  • ❓ When you don’t get the results you want, how do you respond?
  • ❓ How are you spending your time, and is that properly communicating your priorities?
  • ❓ Do you interact differently with different individuals? When (not if) others notice that, what are their takeaways?
  • ❓ From whom do you seek feedback?

Powerful questions

Executive coaching starts with powerful questions — questions that provoke lines of thinking which lead to insights and positive, impactful changes.

These were a few of those questions. The next steps are about identifying things you want to change, having a plan, and being accountable.

If these questions provoked new lines of thinking for you, then mission accomplished.

👉 Reach out and tell me all about it. It’ll make my day. Or read more about my executive coaching practice if you want a partner for working through questions like these.
